LTO starts processing of 3-year registration validity of new motorcycles
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has started processing the three-year validity of new motorcycles with engine displacement of 200cc and below.
LTO chief JayArt Tugade said the agency has already processed over a thousand brand new motorcycles that fall under that category through its Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) during the first day of the implementation on May 15.
The inclusion of brand new motorcycles with 200cc engine displacement and below was based on the Memorandum Circular No. JMT-2023-2395 which was implemented in the absence of a study that shows significant diminishing road worthiness of brand new motorcycles within three years.Â
Tugade earlier argued that the LTO is convinced of the roadworthiness of brand new motorcycles with engine displacement of 200cc and below, thus justifying the issuance of an initial three-year registration validity.Â
Previously, only brand new motorcycles with engine displacement of 201cc and above were eligible for the initial three-year registration validity.
