The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recorded “dangerous” heat indices in 19 areas across the country on Monday, May 15.
Based on PAGASA’s data, the highest computed heat index on Monday was 44 degrees Celsius (°C) recorded in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte, Iba in Zambales, Roxas City in Capiz, and Sangley Point in Cavite.
According to PAGASA, a heat index ranging from 42°C to 51°C indicates impending “danger,” as “heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely,” and “heat stroke is probable with continued activity,” PAGASA said.
The top 19 stations that reached dangerous heat index levels on May 15 were:
