Western Visayas logs 3 new Omicron XBB. 1.16 cases

ILOILO CITY – Western Visayas has logged three new cases of the Omicron XBB. 1.16 Covid-19 variant. The Department of Health (DOH)-6 recorded these fresh cases from April 26 to May 6, according to a biosurveillance report. The first case of the Omicron XBB. 1.16 variant, also known as “Arcturus,” in the country was recorded in the region, particularly in Iloilo province. Dr. Rodney Labis of the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPPO) said that this was a 16-year-old female. She was hospitalized at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC), the DOH-6 run hospital here. No information on where in Western Visayas these three new cases are from was disclosed by health authorities.
