The Philippine women’s volleyball team fell to Indonesia in four sets, 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, in their bronze medal match in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Sunday, May 14, at the Indoor Olympic Stadium.
The Filipinas missed out on the podium for the fourth straight edition of the biennial meet since returning from a 10-year hiatus in 2015.

After tying the match at one-set apiece, the Philippines looked like it was headed to a 2-1 set lead after surging to an early 8-4 advantage in the third set. However, the gap quickly evaporated as the Indonesians went on a telling 15-8 run to take the set lead. Down by three in the fourth set, 23-20, Tots Carlos pulled the Philippines within one through back-to-back attacks, 24-23. Before the Filipinas could complete their comeback and force a decider set, the Indonesians sealed the win with one swift attack. In 2017, the Philippines reached the bronze medal match but fell short against Vietnam in four sets. After the promising finish in the 2017 edition, the Filipinas found themselves at odds against the Indonesians in the next four years. Still, this year was no different as the Philippines continued to settle for fourth place.
