National University extended its reign after taking down University of Santo Tomas, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 85 men’s volleyball tournament on Sunday, May 14, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
After a three-year hiatus from the league, the Bulldogs clinched their third straight title in the men’s play and stretched their winning run to 34 games after a perfect 16-0 finish this season.

Unlike in their Game 1 showdown, NU dictated the tone throughout the match and made quick work of UST. Buds Buddin carried out the championship-winning performance for NU after dropping 20 points on 18 attacks, one block and a service ace, while Nico Almendras had 14 points. Recently crowned Rookie-Most Valuable Player Josh Ybañez led the way for UST with 13 points in the losing cause.
