The fatality was identified as Jimmy Abellar Sr., 43, of Barangay Tanza, while his son, Jimmy Jr., 21, was injured. Police Staff Sgt. Ritchel Lorque, investigator of the E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station, said the motorcycle driven by the younger Abellar was tailing a utility van on their way to the town proper. While the van and the motorcycle were signaling to execute a left turn, a trailer truck that was tailing the motorcycle hit the latter, Lorque said. The sheer strong impact pushed the motorcycle to the van, Lorque added. Lorque said the elder Abellar was declared dead in a hospital, while his son was referred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here and is now in stable condition. Lorque said there was already a settlement among the parties involved, and that the truck driver will be released from police custody after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.
