2 men nabbed for robbery, illegal possession of firearms, explosives in QC


Two men were arrested by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives for robbery and illegal possession of firearms and explosives in Barangay Sacred Heart, Quezon City on Saturday, May 13, and Sunday, May 14.

Lt. Col. Robert Amoranto, QCPD Kamuning Station (PS 10) identified the suspect as Matthew Reginald Eleazar, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

Report showed that the victim, Stephanie Aonuevo, 27, and her friends were walking along the corner of Samar Avenue and Scout Borromeo Street in Barangay South Triangle at around 8 a.m. on Saturday, when the motorcycle-riding suspect suddenly approached and snatched her cellphone.

The suspect fled towards Scout Borromeo Street.

Aonuevo sought help to Barangay South Triangle public safety officers who were conducting anti-criminality patrol on the area.

The incident was reported to the PS 10, who immediately conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect in Brgy. Sacred Heart.

Eleazar was caught in possession of one hand grenade; one unit of Yamaha Mio i 125; a Lalamove box; two pieces of helmet; two cellular phones; one unit cal. 45 pistol loaded with one cal. 45 ammunition; three pieces of cal. 45 bullets; one cal. 45 pistol in a black holster; and a light blue sling bag.

The suspect will be charged for robbery, violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and violation of Republic Act  9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, police said.

Meanwhile, the same operatives also arrested Jaymon Paciño, 24, of Barangay Pinyahan, QC after stealing a phone from a man on Sunday, May 14.

The PS 10 said the suspect, who was onboard a motorcycle, approached and snatched the bag and cellphone of the victim, Keith Villaseron, who was walking along D-66 NIA Road, Brgy Pinyahan at around 1 a.m.

The  victim chased the suspect and sought the assistance of the PS 10 operatives who were at the area.

Responding operatives located the suspect in his residence and arrested him after he was positively identified by the victim.

Recovered from him was a cellphone worth P20,000.

Paciño will be charged for theft, the QCPD said.
