From the strictest to most severe, OPPO smartphones undergo "Spartan-like" tests
More than the minutest nuts, bolts and screws, the meticulous technology used to create the OPPO Find N2 Flip is proof that people lucky enough to purchase their "OPPOs" are getting more than what they paid for.
Yes, the Find N2 Flip and the rest of OPPO lineup of devices, should pass through tough testings before being shipped out for mass production.
It was in 2008 when OPPO founded the Quality Engineer (QE) Reliability Lab for the sole purpose of maintaining high and standardized product quality from the very beginning of the product development phases, up to the mass production process.
The QE Reliability Lab tests OPPO products against the strictest -- to most severe -- quality standards to ensure that every product delivered to users is of excellent quality.
A compact group of Philippine media recently went on a tour of the QE Reliability Lab in Chang'an, China and was given the opportunity to visit two main testing categories: mechanical testing and environment adaptability testing.
MB TechNews was witness to the tests including:
• Mechanical Test: Drop Test, Micro-drop Test, Tumbling Barrel Test, Plug and Unplug Test, Twist Test, Buttons Test, USB Bending Test, Soft Press Test , Folding Test.
• Environment Adaptability Testing: Waterproofing Test, Spray Tests, UV Test, Sweat Test, Temperature and Humidity Test.
OPPO designed these tests to reflect the actual consumer experience, taking into considerations common but overlooked motions such as USB plug-in and plug-out, and slight drops are not missed.
We were impressed, specifically with the button click test -- as the power and volume keys are most frequently used, each button is tapped 100,000 times, and the fingerprint key is tapped 1 million times. This ensures that the keys are comfortable to touch, functional and intact;
And awed by the press test -- this simulates a scenario where the user accidentally presses the device against a small pointed object (such as a key or flash drive in a pocket) and verifies whether the device is damaged or functionality is affected.
Also interesting of note is the environment adaptability tests which examine how well smartphones can perform under different environmental conditions. Aside from evaluating their protection against water and dust, OPPO smartphones also undergo the sweat test to see how perspiration can have an impact on the device functionality.
We watched closely as the OPPO Find N2 Flip was also subjected to extremely hot and cold environments-- placed in a chamber with temperatures of up to 95°C and -40°C for 7 days. Passed.
Then the spray test, exposing OPPO devices to a 5% salt spray in a hot and humid environment in 3 sessions for 2 hours each, to test the corrosion resistance of the units. Passed.
The OPPO Find N2 Flip Folding Test is required to measure the durability and reliability of the Flexion Hinge. Passed.
Over at the OPPO Headquarters in Shenzhen, China, we learned of more future developments for the Find N2 Flip. It is said the smartphone will get additional updates for more apps to support its cover screen. OPPO added that it is working with Google to allow support dial on the Find N2 Flip cover screen.
Overall, the tour we've had helps deliver the message that, when it comes to quality and functionality, OPPO only shoots for the A+ rating.
