The Pasay City police found that the reported bomb threat at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on Friday afternoon, May 12 was a hoax.
According to the report of the Pasay City police, members of the Special Weapon and Tactical Unit- Explosive and Ordnance Disposal (SWAT-EOD) immediately responded after receiving a call from the PICC security manager about an alleged bomb threat at around 12:20 p.m.
The police said that Marlon Fabricante, head of the administrative services division of the National Privacy Commission (NPC), saw a comment on their Facebook page from an account named Angelo Iglesias that said "time bomb set on your building starts now.”
The police said the team of SWAT-EOD searched the entire five-storey building using one explosive detection dog from Regional EOD and Canine Unit.
Reports showed no explosives were found during the conduct of the search which was completed at around 4:49 p.m.
The police declared the alleged bomb threat a hoax and advised the public to remain calm and vigilant.
The police also assured they are continuously monitoring to ensure everyone’s safety and security.
