1,473 senior citizens in Negros town get cash assistance


BACOLOD CITY – A total of 1,473 senior citizens received their social pension in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental on Friday, May 12.

Gov. Bong Lacson and Pulupandan Municipal Administrator Federico Infante Jr. led the distribution of the social pension to the beneficiaries held at Haven of Grace in Barangay Utod.

The distribution was witnessed by Gerla Sario, officer-in-charge of Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PWSDO), and Municipal Social Welfare Officer Josenel Joy Salinas.

Each beneficiary received their monthly stipend of P500 for the month of January to June this year totaling P3,000.

The payout of the cash assistance covers the first semester of the social pension program for senior citizens of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

According to the MSWDO, the welfare of the senior citizens has been the priority program of Mayor Miguel Peña.

The programs include free medicines, financial assistance, and provision of assistive devices such as wheelchair, walker, and crane.
