ILOILO CITY – Roxas, the capital city of Capiz province, is celebrating its 72nd founding anniversary.

“Padayon kita nga magatinguha nga ululupod sa bulig sang tagsa-tagsa kag ipabilin ang maayo nga pagtamdanay tubtob maabot naton ang handum nga bigger, better, and brighter Roxas City (Let us unite and help one another to reach our goal for a bigger, better, and brigther Roxas City),” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas on Friday, May 12. This city named after its illustrious son President Manuel Acuña Roxas became a city in 1951 after President Elpidio Quirino signed Republic Act No. 603. Several activities have been scheduled to mark the event. Friday’s events include a thanksgiving Mass, a cultural parade on the major streets of this city, a basketball game featuring PBA legends, a rap showdown, a cultural show, and fireworks display. On Saturday, May 13, a concert featuring Ely Buendia, Pupil, Leandro Zayco, Sushband, ADHD2, and Patiqueros will be held.
