PDEA seizes P12M 'imported shabu' in Mandaluyong drug op


Anti-narcotics authorities have arrested a male consignee who allegedly received "imported" methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P12,240,000 during a controlled delivery operation in Mandaluyong City on Thursday, May 11, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported.

The consignee, identified as Joel Mariano Reyes also known as "Kyle Puna Sanchez", was nabbed by authorities led by PDEA-Central Luzon in Barangay Highway Hills on Thursday, May 11, after he allegedly received the illegal shipment which contained "more or less 1,808 grams of shabu."

The PDEA bared that the shipment containing the suspected drugs originated from San Jose, United States and arrived at the Port of Clark on May 9.

"The interception of the subject illegal drugs in Port of Clark emanated from an information received by PDEA ICFAS (International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service) from foreign counterparts," the PDEA said in a statement on Friday, May 12.

Reyes will face charges for violation of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’

Aside from the PDEA Central Luzon, the controlled delivery operation was carried out by the PDEA Clark Inter Agency Interdiction Task Group, Bureau of Custom Port of Clark, PDEA-National Capital Region (NCR), and the local police.
