Pasig LGU reopens last slot for medical scholarship grant applications

The Pasig City government reopened on Friday, May 12, the last lone slot of the applications for the Meralco-Pasig Medical Scholarship Grant, offered through its partnership with the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health and the One Meralco Foundation (OMF). Since the launch of the program in March 2022, only four scholars have been accepted by the scholarship committee. The applications have been reopened to search for the final recipient, in fulfillment of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by the city government, Ateneo, and OMF. The MOA, authorized under City Resolution No. 89, series of 2021, indicated that scholarship grants will be given to a total of five Pasigueño scholars. If selected, this scholar will be given the opportunity to earn a double degree in Doctor of Medicine and Master in Business Administration at the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), to be completed within a duration of five years. All school expenses including tuition fees, doctor’s tools and equipment, laptop, and internet are covered by the grant. Applicants who wish to apply for the scholarship grant must be 26 years old and below by June 2023; have no major health issues; have successfully been admitted to the ASMPH; has lived in Pasig City for atleast three years and completed their secondary education in a Pasig high school; has graduated or is graduating with a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Arts (BA), preferably in General Biology, Zoology or Botany, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or General Physics, from any college or university; has a 90 percent ranking in the National Medication Admission Test (NMAT), taken within the last two years; and has an annual family income not exceeding P500,000. Aside from the application form, the required documents that must be submitted are as follows: proof of successful admission to ASMPH, valid ID and barangay certificate with proof of residence in Pasig, certified true copies of their Transcript of Record (TOR), including their Certification of General Weighted Average (GWA) or Quality Point Index (QPI), and NMAT result; a medical certificate, a 2”x2” photo, proof of household income (in the form of Income Tax Return (ITR), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Certificate of No Filing, Contract or Certificate of Employment and Compensation); and a declaration of other scholarship grants received from any source. Applicants must submit all complete requirements on or before May 18. Hardcopies must be placed inside a brown envelope and submitted to the Meralco-Pasig Scholarship Committee through the Pasig City Scholarship (PCS) Office, located at the second floor of the Data Archive Building in the Pasig City Hall Compound.
