Someone's trying to cause trouble, according to former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Rowena Guanzon.
Guanzon gave this reaction to reports that Comelec had refuted a press release saying that it ordered her oath-taking and proclamation as representative of P3PWD Party-list in the current 19th Congress.
"May nanggugulo. Huwag nyo akong idamay (Someone's trying to cause trouble. Leave me out of it)," she tweeted on May 11.
"@COMELEC issued a proclamation in my favor, but the Speaker did not allow me to assume office. In fact my name wa[s] deleted from the Roll," she said, referring to House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Guanzon is listed as the first nominee of P3PWD Party-list, which stands for Komunidad ng Pamilya Pasyente at Persons with Disabilities.
The party-list technically has an empty seat in the House, waiting to be filled.
An earlier tweet from Guanzon was consistent with Comelec's denial that her oath-taking and proclamation as a House member was forthcoming.
I did not receive an order from COMELEC to appear before the House of Reps. Although there is no TRO (temporary restraining order) against the Speaker o[r] against m[e] , he deems it " prudent" not to allow me to assume office. #p3pwd," she explained.
