CITY of San Fernando, Pampanga -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon arrested in Mandaluyong City on Thursday, May 11, a 42-year-old man over suspected shabu worth P12.2 million seized at the Port of Clark in Pampanga on May 9.
The suspect was identified as Joel Mariano Reyes of Barangay Dr. Fernandez, Highway Hills, Mandaluyong City.
The PDEA received information that a shipment of illegal drugs will arrive at the Port of Clark.
"The interception of the subject illegal drugs in Port of Clark emanated from an information received by PDEA ICFASÂ (International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service) from foreign counterparts,"Â PDEA said.
The shipment originated from San Jose, California and was consigned to a certain Kyle Puna Sanchez.
PDEA conducted a controlled delivery operation and arrested Reyes after he received the shipment.
The shipment weighing more than one kilo was recovered from Reyes.
The operation was a joint effort of the PDEA-Clark Inter-Agency Interdiction Task Group, Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark, PDEA-National Capital Region, and local police.
Reyes faces charges for violation of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165.
