TESDA inaugurates provincial training center in Lipa City

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said on Thursday, May 11, that it has inaugurated a three-story Provincial Training Center located in Lipa City, Batangas. In a statement, TESDA said that this is part of its commitment to expanding tech-voc training in the country as it continues to establish training centers nationwide. TESDA Director General Danilo P. Cruz, together with Deputy Director General for TESD Operations Aniceto D. Bertiz III, and TESDA IV-A Regional Director Baron Jose l. Lagran led the inauguration. The training center, which broke ground last May 2021, aims to deliver sustainable and demand-driven programs and services through the implementation of good governance, responsive curricula, flexible learning delivery, and partnership with stakeholders. Initially, the center will offer a range of programs such as Instrumentation and Control Servicing NC II, Mechatronics Servicing NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Barangay Health Services NC II, Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing NC II, Automotive Servicing NC II (Under Chassis), Organic Agriculture Production NC II, Internet of Things, Barbering NC II, and language programs. These programs are expected to produce 1,200 graduates annually who will contribute to the development of various industries in the region. In his message, DG Cruz shared that TESDA is gearing towards the development of innovative learning solutions that will address the issue of skills gaps and skills mismatch between training and what the industries need. “Through the quality-assured TESD System, we can ensure that the TVET programs that are developed and implemented are up to the standards set not just by TESDA, but by the employers, industry practitioners, and the academe,” the TESDA chief said. Also present during the ceremony were Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Atty. Aries Liwag representing former Senator and now 6th District Congressman Ralph Recto, Lipa City Administrator Joel Pua representing Mayor Eric Africa, and Vice-Mayor Camille Angeline Lopez, and TESDA Batangas Provincial Director Gerardo Mercado. Currently, there are 178 TESDA Technology Institutions, of which 57 are TESDA Administered Schools, 17 Regional Training Centers, 99 Provincial/District Training Centers, and 5 Specialized Training Centers.
