NICA still trying to uncover evidence to tag Teves as a terrorist
The National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) is still trying to uncover pieces of evidence whether suspended Negros Oriental Congressman Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr. could be considered a terrorist.
NICA Director General Ricardo de Leon stated this when he appeared before the Senate public order and dangerous drugs committee chaired by Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa during its fifth public hearing on the brazen assassination of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and other political assassinations in that province.
The NICA is the secretariat of the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC).
During Thursday's hearing, May 11, a testimony was given that a P7 million prize was offered for Degamo’s head.
De Leon testified that the Department of Justice (DOJ) heads the Technical Working Group that is trying to uncover pieces of evidence that would eventually be endorsed to the ATC in two to three weeks.
Should Teves be designated or declared as a terrorist, this would be endorsed for financial investigation by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla had claimed that Teves is the alleged mastermind in the Degamo killing.
Remulla had said that the wheels of justice is moving so that the Congressman could be designated as a terrorist which the Teves camp strongly denies.
