A motorcycle rider died while four others were injured in a vehicular accident that occurred in Las Piñas City on Wednesday morning, May 10.

Col. Jaime Santos, city police chief, identified the victim as Andrew Cervantes.

Santos said the injured victims, identified as Ramil Estilloso, Maire Ida, John Paolo Pineda and Milagros Molato, were immediately rushed to the Perpetual Help Medical Center for treatment.

Investigation showed that the incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. in front of Divine Light Academy located in Pamplona Tres, Alabang-Zapote Road, Las Piñas.

The suspect, who is now under the custody of the police, was identified as Vicente Matriano. He was charged for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.

The police said prior to the accident, Â Cervantes, who was driving his Yamaha Sight motorcycle, stopped to give way to a colored white Foton van that was being driven by David Setias, Jr.Â

The Foton van was reportedly coming out from the school building and about to turn left going to the direction of Alabang.

Police said three other riders, Estilloso, Ida, and Pineda also stopped while the van made a left turn.

The suspect who was driving a colored black Subaru, going to the direction of Zapote, lost control of the vehicle, hitting the motorcycle of the riders.Â
Molato who was crossing the pedestrian lane was also hit.

Cervantes was reportedly pinned by the vehicle of Matriano and died on the spot.
