From glittered frocks to floral butterfly sleeves

As its coronation night inches closer, Miss Universe Philippines 2023 goes all out in celebrating and empowering Filipino beauty queens and fashion creatives. A testament to that was its Fashion and Charity Gala Night, which was held on May 10 at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila. During the event, Miss Universe Philippines merged the powers of style and pageantry to ignite change in the community. 
Adding to the splendor of the night was the presence of Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel, Miss Universe Organization owner Anne Jakrajutatip, and Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart. The gala was also for the benefit of charity organizations Save the Children and Hope 4 Change.
“Miss Universe Philippines has exhibited that its National Fashion design can become a real ‘Force for Good’ to make a positive social impact, particularly for young children in need of education and nutrition,” Anne posted. “Miss Universe Organization would love to express the gratitude over your dedication and integrity to make this Fashion and Charity gala project as a platform to create ‘A Positive Change’ to your society. We certainly recognize your commitment and resonate with your initiative.”
During the event, attendees were asked to show up wearing their interpretation of modern Filipiniana. With that, below are some of the stunning terno looks we saw at the gala.

The reigning Miss Universe lit up the gala night with a sparkling terno dress by Filipino designer Mark Bumgarner. First seen at the [Philippine Terno Gala](https://mb.com.ph/2023/3/16/the-butterfly-sleeves-fly-high-in-cebu) in Cebu last March, the piece features the designer’s signature clover silhouette with a wave-like sculptural detail. Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup had a twinning moment with Paula, as both of their looks feature floral terno sleeves. Designed by Jheboi Ramos, the dress also featured faux feather embellishments, a side train, and a high slit, overall, presenting a look that’s “light, soft, and calm.”
