DILG-NCR recognizes Parañaque LGU for 2022 fisheries compliance audit validation
The Parañaque City government was recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government-National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) as one of the top performing government units in Metro Manila in the 2022 fisheries compliance audit validation (FishCA).
According to DILG-NCR, the FishCA validation team conducted a review on the compliance of the city government through a monitoring tool on fisheries management on April 2023.
The validation team reviewed the city government’s basic municipal fisheries ordinance, water delineation, coastal resource management zoning ordinance, plans and budget, and list of municipal fisher folks and their equipment.
Mayor Eric Olivarez was happy with the result of the review conducted by the validation team after the city government got a score of 49 out of 50, equivalent to a grade of 89.09 percent.
Olivarez said the agency also cited the effort of the city government to protect and preserve municipal waters and enforce policies in relation to fisheries management.
He said the DILG-NCR also endorsed the city government in the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program- Program Management Office (MBCRPP-PMO) for national validation.
The mayor assured the agency that the local government unit will continue to protect the city's marine ecosystem.
