Police operatives arrested two men tagged as high-value individuals (HVIs) in the local drug watchlist, and seized more than P470,000 worth of illegal drugs in Pasig City on Thursday, May 11.
Pasig City Police Station (CPS) identified the suspects as “Randy,” 41, and “Carlito,” 59, both from Barangay Rosario, Pasig City.
Prior to the operation, police from the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Pasig CPS conducted surveillance operations on the suspects.
The suspects were arrested in the buy-bust operation conducted at Rocha 2 Street, Jenny's Avenue in Barangay Rosario at 4:40 a.m.
Recovered from them were 15 pieces of plastic sachet containing 70 grams of suspected shabu. It has a standard drug price of P476,000.
Two black and red pouches and a P500 bill used as buy-bust money were also confiscated.
The evidence was turned over to the Eastern Police District (EPD) Forensic Unit in Mandaluyong City for laboratory examination. The suspects were also referred to the unit for a drug test.
The suspects are facing charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Art. II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
"I highly commend the excellent job, dedication, and efforts of the Station Drug Enforcement Operatives for another milestone in our war against illegal drugs within our area of responsibility,” Pasig police chief Col. Celerino Sacro said in a statement.
“I also urge the general public to be vigilant and be our active partners in the fight against all forms of lawlessness and criminality in the City," the police chief added.
