The elderly is expected to receive the amount starting the second quarter of this year. Uldarico Fabian, Assistant City Social Welfare and Development Officer, said senior citizens who have been residing in Zamboanga City for the past two years are included as beneficiaries. These include those with or without social pension, employed and unemployed seniors. "The mode of payment of P1,000 per recipient will be done on a quarterly basis, effective the second quarter. All seniors will receive P1,000," stressed Fabian. The program is apart from an existing program which gives benefits to the city's octogenarians, nonagenarians, and centenarians, and falls under the full implementation of Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.
