Barangay projects worth P10 M in Ilocos Sur inaugurated

SANTA LUCIA, Ilocos Sur – Four farm-to-market roads and a barangay health center under the 2022 Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) projects of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) were formally opened on May 5, Friday, in the three barangays here.

NTF-ELCAC Secretariat Director Monico Batle said these SBDP projects were constructed in Barangays Suagayan, Conconig East, and Buliclic.

He said these projects under the LGSF-SBDP aim to usher development and deliver basic services to former conflict-affected barangays that lagged due to the terror caused by the New People’s Army.

A total of P10 million was allotted for the construction of these SBDP projects.

Barangay Buliclic headed by Chairman Dominador G. Agustin was one of the 27 recipients of the SBDP project in the municipality. Agustin expressed his gratitude to the leadership of NTF-ELCAC and its implementing agencies for the realization of the projects.

Batle commended the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the involved local government units from the municipal to the regional level for the successful implementation of the projects in the province of Ilocos Sur.

Col. Dean Mark F. Mamaril, deputy brigade commander of the Army 702nd Infantry (Defender) Brigade, expressed his unit’s support to the LGU and the community and vowed to continue its commitment in pursuing peace and development in its area of operations.

Major Gen. Andrew D. Costelo, commander of the Army 7th Infantry Division, congratulated the LGU for the new projects and reiterated his support to the peace and development initiatives of Santa Lucia.
