With the culmination of their five-day Very Important Person Security and Protection Orientation (VIPSPO) Seminar on Monday, May 8, the PRO-13 is set to mobilize them for security and protection of VIPs, PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II said. “Some were providing security to elected government officials and other VIP with validated threats,” Labra said of the trainees from the PRO-13 headquarters, police provincial offices, and Butuan City Police Office. He said the training is also aimed at providing knowledge to uniformed personnel who are detailed as security escorts of civilians with very important personality status. “Their training also aims to professionalize the security sector so it can make available highly trained and disciplined police personnel for individuals who need such services and for visiting dignitaries,” Labra said. Police Corporal Kerl Jasper D. Doce, assigned to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, received the top gun award. The training, the second this year, was facilitated by the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division-13 and Regional Police Security and Protection Unit-13. Labra graced their graduation as guest of honor and speaker and thanked the instructors for providing the knowledge and honing the skills of trainees. “As servants and protectors of the community, we are tasked to protect personalities and figures who hold significant positions in the community and any harm done to them proves detrimental to the community,” Labra said.
