ILOILO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Region 6 (Western Visayas) released P69 million for various livelihood projects across Western Visayas region on Labor Day.

“This is for our marginalized workers such as the women, senior citizens, indigenous peoples, parents of child laborer, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and drivers,” said DOLE-6 Director Sixto Rodriguez Jr. Negros Occidental province had the biggest allocation with P34.4 million for 6,591 workers. The province and city of Iloilo had P20.5 million for 3,314 workers; Antique, 6.5 million for 988 workers; Capiz, P4.1 million for 402 workers; Guimaras, P2.6 million for 418 workers; and Aklan, P1 million for 67 workers. The turnover of checks was held at the Labor Day job fair at Robinsons Place Iloilo here for Iloilo and Guimaras. Meanwhile, there were 4,641 job openings across the region in the job fair.
