US, Canada envoys send Easter messages to Pinoys

The ambassadors of the United States and Canada on Sunday, April 9, sent their well-wishes to Filipinos celebrating Easter, a Christian festival that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Carlson's and Hartman's Twitter accounts) US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson took to Twitter to extend her message to Filipinos and everyone around the world celebrating Easter. “Happy #Easter to everyone celebrating in the Philippines, the United States, and around the world! Maligayang Pasko ng Muling Pagkabuhay!,” she wrote. The US Embassy also posted on Twitter. “We wish all who celebrate a blessed and joyful #Easter. In this season of new beginnings, may you find a renewal of warmth, hope, and health,” it said. Canadian Ambassador to Manila David Hartman tweeted a photo containing his Easter message. “Maligayang Pasko ng Pagkabuhay (Happy Easter)! Happy Easter to our Christian friends in the Philippines!,” he said in a post, accompanied by Philippine and Canadian flags. Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It is a culmination of the Lenten season as it marks the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead on the third day after His crucifixion. The Philippines, one of the two predominantly Christian nations in Asia, is believed to be more than 86 percent Roman Catholic and six percent various nationalized Christian groups. In the latest census, 85 million Filipinos identified as Roman Catholic.
