P20.4-M shabu seized in Sulu checkpoint; courier eludes arrest

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Lawmen seized P20.4-million worth of shabu abandoned by a drug courier at a checkpoint in Luuk town in Sulu province on Saturday, April 8. THE combined team of police, PDEA, and Coast Guard personnel stand behind P20.4-million worth of shabu they seized from a drug courier in a checkpoint in Luuk, Sulu last Saturday, April 8.  (PNP photo) Bangsamoro Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director Christian Frivaldo said PDEA agents set up a checkpoint after learning that a drug courier was about to transport a large volume of shabu to Luuk on Saturday. The suspect, identified as a certain Almando Insali from Zamboanga City, reportedly abandoned the cache of illegal drugs after sensing the presence of a combined team of PDEA agents, policemen, and Coast Guard personnel along the road towards Luuk. Frivaldo said Luuk residents themselves alerted the PDEA agents about the plan of the drug courier to deliver the drugs to their municipality. Sulu police are still conducting manhunt operations to arrest Insali, said Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region regional police chief.
