Seven persons died, including two kids, and more than 60 families were left homeless in a fire incident in Barangay San Juan in Taytay, Rizal on Saturday night, April 8.
A report from the Office of Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) Director Col. Dominic Baccay showed that at least seven individuals belonging to the same household at Barangay San Juan died in the blaze.
The fatalities were identified as Joey Hernandez, 43; John Caizen Hernandez, 12; Lilia Macaranas, 65; Carla Hernandez, 32; Marih Cristina Javier, 34; Martina Rolaine Javier, 2; and Jelyn Gamas, legal age, all from No. 68 Rosario Street.

The report from the Taytay Police to the Rizal PPO stated that the blaze started from the house of Juancho Lina late Saturday night. It engulfed more than 40 other houses in the area before the fire was declared out at 11:05 p.m.
Shortly after the Barangay San Juan fire incident, another fire occurred at Sitio Bato-Bato in Barangay Dolores. Several houses were damaged in the second incident that was declared fire out at 3:11 a.m. on April 9.

The cause of the two fire incidents are still under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection as of Sunday morning, according to the PPO.
