Three die, one hospitalized in four separate drowning incidents on Good Friday in Batangas
BATANGAS – Three died and one was hospitalized in four separate drowning incidents here on Good Friday, April 7.
The Batangas Police Provincial Office (BPPO) identified the fatalities as Bobong Rivera, single, and resident of Barangay Palincaro, Tuy; Khailyn, a resident of San Juan, and Lucas, resident of Barangay 185, north Caloocan.
Undergoing medical treatment is Calixto Serrano, 35, a farmer, and resident of Barangay San Juan, Alitagtag.
Rivera’s body was found floating on a deep portion of the Malibu River in Barangay Malibu in Tuy. He was found by Melencio Serrano at around 12:05 noon.
Khailyn drowned at the Calubcub Bay resort while having a summer camp retreat with her relatives. She was found floating in the pool of the resort in Barangay Calubcub in San Juan at 1:40 p.m.
Also in San Juan, Lucas, according to Ronnie Baetiong, submerged in the pool and somebody jumped to save the latter.
The members of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction tried to revive him, and even sent him to San Juan District Hospital. but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Emerson Lim at 9:50 p.m.
On the other hand, Serrano, who was under the influence of liquor, swam away towards the deep portion of Taal Lake in
Barangay Poblacion East in Alitagtag and was lucky to be rescued. He was brought to Martin Marasigan Hospital for treatment.
