At least 10 people have died in separate drowning incidents since the start of the Holy Week, reports from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) disclosed on Saturday, April 8.
In Camarines Sur, five people, including three minors, died while another one was missing when their swimming vacation turned into a tragedy at a beach resort in Barangay Catagban in Goa town on Saturday, April 8.Â

The fatalities were identified as Rhea Pino, 18; Rafael Pino, 18; and three other minors aged 16 and 17.
Their 16-year old girl companion is still missing while a 12-year old girl survived, according to the local police.
Police said the incident was reported by a certain Gilbert Cea when he sought the assistance of the police.Â
The six victims were taken to the Medicare Hospital in San Jose, Camarines Sur but only one of them survived.Â
In Batangas, three people were reported to have died of drowning since April 7.
In Tuy town, a certain Bobong Rivera died when he drowned while swimming in a resort in Barangay Malibu at around 4 p.m. on Friday, April 7.
In San Juan town, a certain Khailyn died when she drowned during a summer retreat at the Calubcub Bay Resort and Recreation in Barangay Calubcub at around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, April 7.Â
Also in San Juan, a certain Lucas from Caloocan City drowned in a swimming pool in Barangay Laiya Aplaya at around 9 p.m. on Friday.
His companions only learned of the incident when a man jumped into the pool apparently to save him. The victim died in the hospital.
In Lucena City, local residents discovered a cadaver at the shoreline of a beach resort in Barangay Talao-Talao at around 6 a.m. on Friday.Â
The victim was later identified as Charlie Ticat.Â
Police said Ticat was among the small group of friends who went to the sea while under the influence of liquor. His companions later decided to go back to the cottage but Ticat reportedly refused.
In Lal-lo town in Cagayan, the cadaver of 36-year old Mark Battad was discovered on Saturday morning. He was reported missing by his family on Friday, April 7.
The Philippine Coast Guard reported that Battad was on board an non-motorized boat and decided to swim into a deeper portion of the vicinity waters.
He failed to get back on board his boat which drifted away until he went missing.
The long Lenten break is usually taken advantage of by families and friends to go on a vacation and engage in other activities like swimming.Â
