Tansingco tells BI frontliners: Remain focused amid controversies

Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco asked officers manning international airports nationwide to remain vigilant and in full force despite various controversial issues faced by the bureau in the past weeks.
The BI chief made the appeal when he conducted ocular inspection of the immigration area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Holy Wednesday, April 5.
“Our officers sacrifice time for themselves and their families to serve the traveling public this holiday season, and I hope that previous issues won’t muddle the important role they play in border management,” he said.
Tansingco talked to the officers on duty, reminding them of their role as public servants and continue with their duties amid unfavorable issues appearing in social media platforms.
“If you are doing your work professionally, then you have the management’s support,” Tansingco told frontline officers.
The BI has fielded almost 100 additional immigration officers mostly at the NAIA where the bulk of arrivals and departures are occurring during the past weeks.
Tansingco also stated that they have been receiving "positive feedback" regarding their airport operations, and he even encouraged netizens to post in social media the efficient service rendered by immigration officers at the airports.
