BUTUAN CITY – Police Regional Office-13 chief Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II inspected police personnel deployed in major passenger terminals, ports, and other areas here on Maundy Thursday to ensure that appropriate security measures and assistance are being provided.
“This is our mandated task to check the security measures and safety of our guests, visitors, vacationers, religious group, and all Caraganons for the Holy Week,” said Labra.
He was accompanied by other members of the regional command and staff and the director and station commanders of the Butuan City Police Office.
“We expected for the surge of passengers travelling to the provinces for the long holidays so we ensure that appropriate security measures and assistance have been provided by our police officers,” Labra added.
He said that no security threats or incidents have been reported but assured the public that the PNP personnel are on their toes to ensure public safety.
Labra reminded all policemen to be alert round-the-clock especially this travel season.
Aside from enhanced police visibility, police assistance desks were also set up to guide commuters and prevent criminals from taking advantage of the occasion, Labra added.
PNP Caraga is assisted in securing the Holy Week by force multipliers from local government units (LGUs), civilian volunteer organizations, and other stakeholders.
