Abandoned vehicle with bloodstained garments found; could have links to Serna killing

The Bulacan Police Provincial Office's (PPO) “Special Investigation Task Group (SITG): Serna” headed by Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan police director, has found an abandoned vehicle in Brgy. Alagao, San Ildefonso, Bulacan on Thursday, April 6, that could have been used by the robbery suspects behind the killing of Lt. Col. Marlon G. Serna last March 25. In collaboration with the Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), San Ildefonso, and San Miguel Police Stations, the Bulacan Provincial Forensic Unit (PFU) found several items inside the vehicle, including bloodstained garments, a pillowcase, a piece of brown paper, and a motorcycle helmet. In addition, the PFU found six live 12-gauge shotgun rounds and one cal. 22 bullets inside the car. The PFU's findings in the abandoned vehicle are crucial in identifying the culprits and solving the case, the police said. The Bulacan PPO reminded the public to provide any information which may lead to the arrest of the suspects. A P1.7 million reward has been offered for the arrest of the perpetrators. Serna was shot dead while in a hot pursuit operation following a robbery incident in Barangay San Juan, San Miguel town. Two motorcycle-riding individuals fired shots at the responding team, hitting Lt. Col. Serna in the head. The suspects fled towards Barangay Akle, San Ildefonso. The Bulacan PPO condemned the incident and assured the public that it will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident and to identify the perpetrators.
