Justin Brownlee on verge of becoming PBA's winningest import

Back then, all he wanted was to help Ginebra end an infamous eight-year title drought and win the championship. Fast forward to the current timeline, he’s now one series win away from surpassing Sean Chamber’s record of six titles. “I’m just blessed and I feel like I’m lucky to be here. I definitely never would have thought coming in 2016 to have this much success,” said Brownlee who, apart from the six titles, added three Best Imports awards to his belt. “If we do win this championship I guess I’ll be the winningest import,” said the amiable reinforcement who was obviously thrilled by the possibility. Easier said than done though for Brownlee and the rest of the Kings to retain their Governors’ Cup title especially going up against a formidable foe in the TNT Tropang Giga led by former NBA player Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. For Cone though, winning or losing the Finals against TNT won’t do anything to Brownlee’s legacy in the PBA as he has already cemented his case as one of the greatest imports to have ever set foot in the league. “I don’t think this one's gonna have much difference in his legacy. He’s already secured his legacy whether he wins or loses this one. And he's not going anywhere, he’s gonna come back and he’ll have his chances,” explained Cone. “Even when he stays at six, he’s still one of the greatest imports if not the greatest import to play in the league. That says a lot about Bobby Parks, Norman Black, Tony Harris and Sean Chambers. There's a lot of import that has been here on our shores through the years and to be considered the best and one of the best is still an amazing feat,” added Cone, Indeed, for Brownlee, being mentioned alongside the greats is already a feat of its own. “I don't think I would be here if not for guys like Sean Chambers, Norman Black and Ray Parks and the list goes on. Definitely, give those guys some respect because I feel like they paved the way for me to be able to do what I’m doing now,” said Brownlee.
