ILOILO CITY – A Holy Week cleanup drive is underway in Boracay Island.

“A successful day towards environmental sustainability and a greener way to begin the long weekend. We appreciate all your efforts in supporting Project Pristine,” the Municipal Tourism Office of Malay town, Aklan province said in a statement on its official Facebook page.
The cleanup drive from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday is part of LGU-Malay Tourism’s “mission of pursuing balance between tourism and environment.”
Among the participating groups were Parameter Boracay Travel Tours, Reyboks Travel and Tours, Mega Paraw Boracay, Malay Port Services MPC, Your Boracay Abbetor Travel and Tours, and MABOHAI Boracay Association.
The cleanup was also held in other areas of the island and in mainland Malay town.
The Malay Municipal Tourism Office encouraged tourists to join and were reminded to properly throw their trash.
