Rising from a field of 600 participants despite a shorter preparation time at the Learn and Train Sports Academy (LTSA) in Makati City, the 7-year-old gave golden performances in the floor exercise, vault, bars, and beam events to banner the Filipino contingent's campaign at the said tournament. It has been a fruitful year for Mayo as she recently dominated the Pasig City Gymnastics Meet with three gold medals. She is expected to don the colors of her city in the regional meet late this month. Overall, the LTSA scooped 99 gold medals and ranked fifth in the two-day affair. Among the top finishers were Lucy Dy (Level 2), Maxine Bondoc (Level 6), and Level 5 gymnasts Robyn Mercado and Fortune Ledesma. The LTSA continues to provide training for potential stars and is being supported by the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines. Also participating in the Bangkok tournament were PGAA-STY, St. Paul Gymnastics Team, and Club Gymnastica Pasig. (*SONNY DAANOY, OJT*)
