Police chief killed in road crash in La Union

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – The chief of police of Tubao, this province, was killed in a road crash in Barangay Guinabang, Bacnotan, La Union on Tuesday, April 4. Initial investigation said the victim, Police Major John Maynard C. Macusi, 33, a resident of Barangay Old Central, Sudipen, La Union, was driving his Toyota Vios sedan on the national highway when it accidentally rammed a Toyota Fortuner Sports Utility Vehicle driven by Avelino L. Anastacio Jr., 29, a resident of Barangay Nalasi, Balaoan, La Union. Both drivers sustained injuries due to the impact of the collision. Responders brought them to the hospital where Macusi was declared dead on arrival. Anastacio is now in stable condition. A follow-up investigation on the accident is ongoing.
