More than 106,000 passengers were monitored in various ports around the country on Holy Wednesday, April 5, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The PCG said it recorded 58,043 outbound passengers and 48,681 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.
Meanwhile, a total of 478 vessels and 732 motorbancas were inspected by 2,674 PCG frontline personnel in 15 Coast Guard districts.
At the Lucena Port in Quezon Province, coast guard personnel assisted elderly passengers and persons with disabilities (PWDs) to ensure they would be safe while boarding the vessels.
"They are carefully assisted from the port passenger terminal until they board the public vessels," the PCG said.
A strict inspection on baggages was also implemented by the Coast Guard K9 Force teams as precautionary measures to avert possible threats on security and safety of the public.
