A man was arrested for robbery extortion by members of the Pasig City Police in an entrapment operation Monday, April 3, the Eastern Police District (EPD) announced.
Pasig City Police Chief Col. Celerino Sacro Jr. identified the suspect as a certain "Teodoro," 42-years-old, and a resident of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
The police report said that Teodoro, employed as a picker of City Specs Corporation, tried to blackmail his supervisor by sending text messages and letters to him saying that the suspect will file a fabricated and malicious complaint against the company with the Social Security System (SSS) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for non-remittance of the employee’s contribution.
Teodoro demanded P100,000 from his supervisor for him not to report the company.
This prompted the complainant to report the suspect to the police where they conducted a follow-up operation against Teodoro, leading to his arrest in a coffee shop in Barangay Oranbo.
The suspect will be charged with Robbery (Extortion) that is now being prepared for filing before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
Sacro commended the police for the successful operation and apprehension of the suspect.
