BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.2 earthquake rocked Zamboanga del Sur on Wednesday morning, April 5.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tectonic earthquake was recorded at 4:53 a.m.
Epicenter was three kilometers (kms) northeast of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur and had a shallow depth only of one km, Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs is not expecting aftershocks or damage from the tremor.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Zamboanga Peninsula or Region 9 and the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no damage or injury from the earthquake.
At least nine mild tremors had been detected in the province prior to this earthquake.
