Best Muntinlupa subdivisions to be chosen under 'Pamanang Nakakaproud' awards
The Muntinlupa City government has launched a search for the best subdivisions in the city.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon led the launching on April 1 of "Ang Pamahalaan at Mamamayan Nagtutulungan para sa Nakakaproud na Kalinisan at Kaayusan" or “Pamanang Nakakaproud,” which aims to challenge residents of local subdivisions to improve or at least maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of their community.

"Through this initiative, we aim for the local communities to engage with their City Government in keeping the beauty and peace of their area," said Biazon. He added, "No one is more qualified to maintain their local communities than the Muntinlupeños who live and have grown up in their area. The competition aspect is to help these communities be motivated and do their best, for their own benefit.” The competition will run from April to November 2023. Subdivisions will be graded based on waste management, street and sidewalk cleanliness, drainage and waterways, pet and stray animal management, urban horticulture, roadway management, safety and security, and partnership with the city government. One problem facing subdivisions is the rampant violation of a Muntinlupa ordinance that prohibits pet owners from intentionally bringing out their dogs to defecate and urinate on streets and sidewalks. Violation of the ordinance imposes a fine of P500 for the first offense, a fine of P1,000 and community service for the second offense, and a fine of P2,000, community service and impounding of the animal for the third offense. “Pamanang Nakakaproud” groups subdivisions into two categories: one for subdivisions with an area of three hectares and one for subdivisions which have an area of more than three hectares. The winning subdivision in each category will receive P100,000 as top prize, followed by P75,000 for the second place and P50,000 for the third place. "More than anything, the reason we are doing this is we want to foster good-neighborliness and unity between the HOAs [homeowners associations]. Through this initiative, we aim to develop camaraderie between the communities," Biazon added.
