DOTR , CAAP officials conduct inspection of air traffic management center
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo conducted an inspection of the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC) on Wednesday, 5 April 2023.
The inspection was in line with the Department of Transportation's (DOTR) "Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa" and Summer Vacation 2023 initiative, which aims to ensure that all transportation facilities in the Philippines are prepared for the increase in passenger traffic during the Holy Week holiday.
During the inspection, the team assessed the readiness of the Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) facilities to handle the expected increase in air traffic, ensuring that all equipment and personnel are operating at peak efficiency to guarantee safe and efficient air travel for passengers.
Tamayo emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards in aviation safety, especially during peak travel seasons such as Holy Week. "We take the responsibility of ensuring safe and efficient air travel very seriously," he said. "That's why we're taking proactive steps to ensure that our CNS/ATM facilities are prepared, that our contingency plans are ready for all situations, and that communication lines remain open among critical facilities and personnel during this busy time."
The inspection was conducted in accordance with international aviation standards and best practices, and the CAAP will continue to closely monitor its operations throughout the Holy Week travel period.
