10 recaptured Pasay jail fugitives to face 4 new charges

The Pasay city police said the 10 recaptured fugitives who bolted the Malibay detention facility on April 3 will face four additional new charges. Col. Froilan Uy, city police chief, made the announcement during a press conference  held at the 2nd floor of Pasay City Hall with Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano on Tuesday, April 4. Uy said the police will file charges of evasion of sentence, direct assault, attempted homicide, and robbery with violence against the 10 fugitives. The recaptured fugitives were Richard dela Cruz, Carlo Magno Benvides, Christian Salvatierra, Norman Deyta, Joey Hernandez, Eden Garcia, Romeo Garcia, all facing charges for illegal possession of drugs; Tirzo Galit, Joshua Panganiban, both facing robbery charges; and John Michael Cabe, who was charged with carnapping. The city police chief explained the 10 fugitives, now classified as persons under police custody (PUPC) facing different violations of the law, have no commitment order yet from the court. Uy said the10 suspects will be transferred to the Pasay City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) once the court issues the commitment order. He said infidelity case was already filed against the duty jail guard, Staff Sergeant Arrison Arida at the Pasay City court. The city police chief  said Arida will also face an administrative case and is still under restrictive custody of the police. Rubiano congratulated the police for the rearrest of the 10 fugitives. She said they were recaptured through the extensive manhunt operation conducted by different police offices and barangays and in coordination with the relatives of the detainees.
