Pasig City aims to vaccinate close to 59,000 students this month

The Pasig City government aims to vaccinate a total of 58,671 students aged 12 to 17 against COVID-19 by the end of this month, Mayor Vico Sotto said on Thursday, Nov. 11.

In a Facebook post, Sotto announced that the city government is targeting to inoculate 55,000 students in public schools and 3,671 in private schools.

Since the start of November, the city has been working closely with the Pasig Schools District Office (SDO), the Pasig Alliance of Private School Administrators (PAPRISA), and the Department of Education (DepEd) in order to launch separate public school and private school vaccination programs.

The vaccination of public schools students began on Nov. 3 while that of private school students began on Nov 11.

The city, however, is prioritizing the vaccination of residents who attend schools within Pasig.

It will later vaccinate residents who study in schools outside of the city.

As of Nov. 8, a total of 7,763 minors have received the first dose of the vaccine while 81 have been fully immunized.
