P32.78-M worth of relief assistance extended to families affected by 'Ulysses' — DSWD

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), various local government units (LGUs), and the private sector have so far extended P32.78 million worth of relief assistance to families who have been affected by  typhoon “Ulysses.”

The relief assistance consisted of family food packs and other food and non-food items.

DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reports that, as of 6 a.m. of Nov. 15, the number of those affected by “Ulysses” had totalled 421,319 families or 1,730,458 persons in 4,373 barangays in the National Capital Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Region 4-A, Region 4-B, Bicol Region, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

A total of 85,271 families or 324,363 persons took temporary shelter in 2,980 evacuation centers in the affected regions. 

About 52,574 families or 231,701 people opted to stay with relatives or friends.

Meanwhile, DSWD has reported more damaged houses due to the massive destruction caused by “Ulysses.”

The typhoon left 3,096 totally damaged houses and 22,756 partially damaged houses.
