Manila COVID-19 vaccination to go 24/7 starting Sunday

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced on Friday, August 6, that its COVID-19 vaccination sites will operate 24/7 starting on Sunday as the country continues to battle the pandemic.

In his city address, Domagoso announced the postponement of the vaccination for tomorrow, August 7, to make way for the adjustments in the vaccination protocols during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila, including the start of the city's 24/7 vaccination.

Domagoso said the Department of Health (DOH) has released a set of guidelines that must be followed by the Local Government Units (LGUs) to make sure the vaccination programs of different cities will be safe and efficient during ECQ.

In line with the instructions of the DOH, the mayor said Manila will adopt a strict scheduling system for "community vaccination" that will be held in schools.

He said each barangay will be given slot numbers that will be distributed to residents who want to get COVID-19 jabs.

Domagoso stressed that there will be no more walk-ins at the vaccination sites, adding the vaccinees must strictly observe the time and venues of their inoculation. He advised them to bring their QR codes and to observe discipline in order to prevent chaos at the venues of vaccination.

On August 2, Domagoso called for volunteers who may help in the inoculation program such as doctors, nurses, dentists, midwives, medical technologists, pharmacists, and other health professionals.
