ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan – M/V Star Breeze, a luxury cruise ship, docked at Hundred Islands National Park here on Palm Sunday.
The Department of Tourism Region (DOT)-1 led by Director Joseph Francisco “Jeff” Ortega said the arrival of M/V Star is a welcome development in the return of cruise tourism in Region 1 (Ilocos region).
An exchange of tokens led by DOT-Region 1 Chief Tourism Operations Officer Evangeline Dadat and M/V Star Breeze Master Captain Christopher Neil Dodds was held.
The ship sailed from Singapore to Malaysia then the Philippines, specifically Palawan, Manila, and Pangasinan, before heading to Hong Kong.
It docked with 186 passengers from Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Philippines and has 207 Filipino crew members.
Several passengers availed of the island escapade and panoramic tour.
MV Star Breeze is scheduled to be back at Hundred Islands on Nov. 14.
The arrival of such cruise ships is expected to aid in the recovery of the economy from the pandemic.
Also welcoming the ship was the city government.
Windstar Cruises is a cruise line that operates a fleet of small luxury cruise ships. Its six yachts carry just 148 to 310 guests and cruise to 50 nations, calling at 150 ports throughout Europe, the South Pacific, the Caribbean, and Central America, according to Wikipedia.
