Filipino national artist Apo Whang-Od is the face of Vogue Philippines’ Beauty issue this month.
Many celebrated the milestone, including several local and international artists.
Fil-Am stand-up comedian Jo Koy posted on his Instagram account the cover of the April 2023 edition of Vogue Philippines.
He wrote as caption: "At 106 years old this Filipino icon is finally getting her flowers! This is the best Vogue cover ever. Mahal kita APO WHANG-OD."
Singer-actress Vina Morales reacted to Jo Koy's post, commenting: "Love and RESPECT."
American actress Halle Berry also posted the same photo commenting, "Now THIS is real beauty."
Seasoned actress Cherry Pie Picache commented on it, thanking the model beauty queen.
"One of our country’s (Philippine flag emoji) treasure," she proudly noted.
English actress Cara Delevingne re-shared Halle's post on her Instagram story, while Victoria's Secret Angel Gigi Hadid and American drag performer Valentina re-posted that of Vogue Philippines'.
Hollywood celebrity Kourtney Kardashian did the same, uploading a post about the Pinoy tattoo artist as the monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine's "oldest-ever" cover model.
English Model Naomi Campbell also reposted an article about Whang-Od, adding some heart emojis.

She continues to practice and teach the art of “batok,” a traditional way of tattooing using bamboo sticks, thorns, and charcoal powder.
Just recently, international star Bretman Rock honored his Filipino roots, flaunting his new tattoos, done via the traditional hand-tapped style.
Then on his Instagram story, he also shared Whang-Od's magazine cover.

Some years ago, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) officially bestowed the acclaimed tattoo artist the 2018 Dangal ng Haraya Award for Intangible Cultural Heritage.
