The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, May 23 recorded 3,083 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

This brought the total of COVID-19 cases in the country to 1,179,812.
The DOH said the relatively low number of new cases was due "to the simultaneous updates being made in the COVIDKaya."
"Some case data from the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) were not included in the COVIDKaya and were not included in this case bulletin. This issue is currently being investigated and addressed by the COVIDKaya technical team," it said.
The case bulletin of the DOH also showed 6,756 new recoveries and 38 new deaths.
The country's recovery tally rose to 1,109,226 while total deaths climbed to 19,951.
The DOH said 10 duplicates were removed from the total case count as eight of these were recoveries.
"In addition, 1,478 cases were deactivated after being tagged by their Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (RESUs) /City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) as being duplicates," it said.
"Moreover, 25 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," added DOH.
The Health department said all labs were operational on May 21, while three labs were not able to submit their data to the CDRS.
"Based on data in the last 14 days, the the non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 4.1 percent of samples tested and 2.6 percent of positive individuals," said DOH.
