DOH: Initial batch of Sputnik V to be deployed in 5 NCR cities
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, May 2, said the initial batch of Sputnik V will be deployed to five cities in the National Capital Region (NCR).

In an interview over DZBB, DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said Makati, Taguig, Muntinlupa, Manila, and Parañaque will receive 3,000 doses each of the vaccine.
Cabotaje said the five cities were chosen because they have the "appropriate" cold storage facility for the Sputnik V vaccine.
The vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Institute in Russia, should be stored in a dark place with temperature not exceeding -18 degrees Celsius.
"Meron silang cold chain, ready yung facility nila. Sa Parañaque, ipa-practice natin yung tinatawag nating partnership with the private sector. Subukan nating gawin sa mall (They have cold chains, in their facility is ready. In Parañaque, we will practice what we call partnership with the private sector. Will try to vaccinate in the mall)" Cabotaje noted.
"Sa Makati naman ang sinabi ni Mayor Binay, ibibigay sa Makati Medical Center, ospital naman (In Makati, Mayor Abby Binay said it will be given to Makati Medical Center, a hospital)," she added.
After delays, 15,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine (COVID-19) vaccine Sputnik V arrived on Saturday, May 1, in the Philippines.
The doses were supposed to arrive on April 25, but delayed due to logistical concerns.
The country is eyeing to procure 20 million doses of Sputnik V, as part of its target to inoculate up to 70 million adults this year.
Sputnik V has an efficacy rate of 91.6 percent against COVID-19.
The country has so far received 4.4 million vaccine doses, 3.5 million doses of which were from China's Sinovac Biotech and 525,600 doses from AstraZeneca through the COVAX Facility.
Over 1.8 million doses have been administered as of April 28, according to the DOH.
